About this service

A standard private GP consultation at GHMS is a focused appointment with one of our experienced doctors — typically Dr Helmi Ismail, our Lead GP and Managing Director and an ENT (ear, nose and throat) specialist, alongside the full range of general practice.

You don't need to register with us, and your NHS GP record is untouched. We treat the issue in front of us, issue a private prescription if needed, and refer to a specialist where appropriate — all within the appointment.

Most patients call or request an appointment in the morning and are seen the same day. For visits that need more time (multiple issues, complex history), ask reception about a longer appointment.

What’s included

  • Consultation with a registered GP
  • Clinical examination and assessment
  • Private prescription where appropriate
  • Specialist referral letter where needed
  • Follow-up plan and clear next steps
  • Written consultation summary by email within 24 hours

Common questions

Do I need to register or fill in forms first?
No. Call or WhatsApp to arrange an appointment — we'll take your details when you book. You're never asked to register with us or change your NHS GP.
Can a private GP prescribe medication?
Yes. After assessing you, the doctor can issue a private prescription when it is clinically appropriate. The pharmacy charges separately for the medicine and dispenses it subject to its own stock and checks.
Can GHMS arrange blood tests or a specialist referral?
Yes. A GP can recommend private blood tests or other investigations based on your symptoms and examination, and can provide a specialist referral where appropriate. Any additional tests, referrals, and expected timing will be explained before you proceed.
Can I get a medical certificate during my appointment?
A doctor can provide a private sick note, fit-to-fly letter, or other medical certificate when the assessment and available records support it. Tell reception what document you need and whether the recipient has specific requirements.
What if I have several concerns or a complex medical history?
Tell reception when booking so they can arrange a suitable appointment length. Bring a list of your medicines and any relevant letters, reports, or test results that may help the doctor assess you.
